See the market before you call

Finding the right ship takes time when the market is spread across calls, messages and separate screens. NavNex opens on one view of the ships and ports that matter to your cargo, with market direction and congestion alongside them. The data shown in this demo is illustrative.

Set the cargo and the standards

A cargo should carry its commercial terms and minimum vessel standards from the start. Enter the route, laycan, cargo, quantity and target rate once, then add the class, RightShip and sanctions requirements that matter to you. NavNex removes ships that do not meet them before you review the list.

Know the voyage before you bid

A freight rate means little until you know what the voyage earns. Price the route before you go firm and see the cost breakdown, sailing and port days, and TCE before the owner's running cost. Both sides see the same fair-value band, so the negotiation starts from the same market view.

Keep freight moving. Protect the tail.

The main freight payment should move as it does today, straight to the owner's bank. NavNex only proposes ring-fencing the 5% balance and a capped demurrage reserve when the charterer's credit tier requires it. Charterers pay NavNex nothing, and the ring-fence is designed but not yet built.

Move a smaller parcel as part cargo

A cargo does not need to fill the whole ship. NavNex can match your parcel as part cargo when a ship has spare capacity on the same route. Why NavNex

Fix directly, with the same market and the same terms.

Charterers lose time searching for ships and often see only part of the market. Shipowners can pay brokerage of up to 2% of the freight. NavNex gives both sides a direct route to the same fixture.

Search, voyage pricing, offers, subjects and the recap sit in one shared workflow. Both principals see the same fair-value band, deadlines and agreed terms at the same time. NavNex does not advise either side on price.

The charterer and shipowner deal with each other as principals. NavNex masks contact details and keeps the owner’s identity hidden until the fixture is fixed, then records the conversation and recap in the audit log.

What it costs

Charterers pay nothing and receive cashback. Shipowners pay 0.5%.

The fee is due only when a fixture completes. Brokerage is nil on both sides.

The comparison

Brokerage can consume a large share of the owner’s profit. A broker can charge up to 2%, while NavNex charges 0.5% only when the fixture completes and invoices it separately as the freight is earned and paid.

What NavNex charges

Charterer
Nothing. No subscription, fixture fee or commission. Charterers also receive cashback.
Shipowner
0.5% of the freight on a completed fixture, invoiced separately as the freight is earned and paid. Nothing is deducted from the freight, and there is no fee if the deal fails.
Brokerage
Nil on both sides. Box 24 of the charter party reads NIL, and the audit log records it.

How the fee affects profit

On a USD 10 million shipment, assume USD 1.5 million in profit before broker or NavNex charges.

Profit before broker or NavNex charges

1,500,000USD

Profit after a 200,000 USD broker charge

1,300,000USD

Profit after the 50,000 USD NavNex fee

1,450,000USD

Illustrative figures only. Actual profit varies by fixture and operating cost.

Address commission stays with the charterer

Address commission is the charterer’s own rebate, usually zero to five per cent in dry cargo. It is separate from brokerage and remains with the charterer in a direct deal. It should not be counted as a broker cost when comparing brokerage with the NavNex fee.

The freight still moves in the usual way

Owners receive 90 to 95 per cent of the freight within three to five banking days of the bills being signed. The balance follows after discharge, adjusted for demurrage or despatch. NavNex never holds the freight. It goes directly to the owner’s nominated bank account.

Protection for the disputed balance

Where the charterer’s credit tier requires protection, NavNex is designed to ring-fence only the 5% balance and a capped demurrage reserve. A first-tier charterer means straight cash with no reserve. The money would sit in a segregated law-firm client account in the owner’s favour and release against documents, not a NavNex decision. This part is designed and not yet built.

Owners may currently rely on a lien over the cargo for demurrage. That protection ends when freight-prepaid bills are released and is less useful once the cargo has been discharged. A reserve would be in place earlier, remain after discharge and avoid relying on the jurisdiction where the cargo happens to be.

How it works

Both sides see the same deal.

You deal with each other directly.

The cargo owner and shipowner contract as principals. NavNex does not act as a broker, hold the freight, issue the bill of lading or advise either side whether to accept a rate.

The rate is your decision.

NavNex’s fee rises with the freight, so it does not advise on price. Both sides see the same fair-value band, and NavNex never recommends whether to accept, reject or counter an offer.

Commercial details stay inside the platform.

The owner sees the charterer’s name and credit tier from the first enquiry. The charterer sees the vessel at firm offer and the owner’s identity when the fixture is fixed. The message wall removes direct email addresses and telephone numbers in both directions.

The difference is deliberate. Owners need the charterer’s identity to price credit risk. Holding back the owner’s identity until the fixture is fixed prevents the enquiry from being taken outside NavNex.

One recap, one set of numbers.

The recap, rate, deadlines and fair-value band form one shared record. Neither side can be shown a different set of terms.

Early access

Bring one live fixture. Help us make NavNex work in the market.

What we are looking for

  • Charterers who move dry bulk cargo often enough to feel the time lost finding and comparing ships.
  • Shipowners and operators with open tonnage who will post a real position and run one negotiation through NavNex.

What you get

  • Direct access to the other principal, with no brokerage on the fixture.
  • A priced voyage and shared market view before negotiations start.
  • Direct access to the team building NavNex, with the product shaped around your fixture.

What we ask

  • Run one real fixture through the platform.
